For the past twenty years Julie Marschesella, owner of Queen of Hearts, has contributed to the community as a business owner and an active civic leader. Julie solves the shopping dilemma of her customers and enriches the town with many volunteer activities. Julie has been recognized as Merrick Merchant of the Year in ‘94, ‘95, ‘ 96, ‘ 97 & ‘98.

Julie serves the needs of many loyal customers. She offers a large selection of merchandise -- with fashion and flair -- for those women can’t find stylish clothing to fit. This convenience is unsurpassed. Julie started her business based personal experience. . “I have been there. I wanted to look attractive and move past the fact that I am overweight,” she stated, explaining why she began her business.

Women who are not “missy sizes”, but who are not “into the upper end of the plus sizes,” can shop for their whole wardrobes right in Merrick! The store, carries a large selection of coordinated sportswear, dresses, suits, casual and career separates. Julie also specializes in bathing suits, lingerie and formal wear. Costume jewelry, handbags and accessories can be added to create a complete look. Julie also assists the outfitting needs of the teenage girl as well.

Julie assists her customers with selecting what looks best on them. . F or example, a women who is bottom heavy will be flattered by flare styles. Julie has personal relationships with customers. Because she knows their life-styles and body shapes, “she can almost buy her merchandise with steady costumers in mind.”

Julie’s energy extends into the community by her involvement as a member of Kiwanis Club and the Member and East Meadow Chambers of Commerce. She also helps groom the merchants of tomorrow. She works with student of the Fashion Buying and Merchandising Class at Nassau Community College. . Two students recently worked in the store for a day as part of the LI Mentoring Partnership.
